Dane-DeHaanDane DeHaan (Lawless) has landed the role of Harry Osborne in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The actor, who burst onto the scene earlier this year with a stand-out performance in Chronicle, will star opposite Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley and Jamie Foxx in the role previously played by James Franco in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man series.

Director Marc Webb confirmed the news on Twitter, while DeHaan himself said of his casting, “To say I’m excited is an understatement.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which has already been dated for release on May 2, 2014, is said to incorporate Spidey’s comic book nemesis Electro. Further plot details are not yet known.

Production on the film is due to commence early next year, so expect a few more tidbits to trickle out between now and then.

DeHaan will next be seen opposite Michael C. Hall and Daniel Radcliffe in John Krokidas’ directorial debut Kill Your Darlings, which was recently confirmed for next year’s Sundance Film Festival in January.
