We have a real treat for you today, a trailer for French thriller, Point Blank. Technically, we’ve seen it before, as part of Andy Petrou’s World Trailer Park round-up, but for the non-Francophones among you, we have subtitles this time to give us a bit more of an idea as to what is going on.

To be honest, this looks like sensationally thrilling stuff, pared down to a lean, energetic approach, mercifully distanced from the Luc Besson over-stylised school of cinematography. The desperation, tension and atmosphere all look spot on in this tale of a nurse who must help a group of criminals get their hands on a biking accident victim in his care, or else see his pregnant wife killed. As the trailer progresses, it seems to just keep ratcheting up and up and although its French-ness causes to feel concern that it won’t attract the widespread release it clearly merits, no doubt we’ll be able to track it down, given a little determination.

Point Blank is due to hit UK screens on 11th June, with no US release date yet. Enjoy the trailer below.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
