Comic-Con: Godzilla Gets a New Look

2

At Comic-Con this past weekend, Warner Bros. Pictures took the opportunity to introduce audience members to the new and improved Godzilla. Attendees were not only treated to a T-shirt with the new image of Godzilla, but they were able to see a superimposed animation of Godzilla breathing fire, complete with his trademark roar.

The newly designed Godzilla was created by Talking Dog Studios and is to be used in Warner Bros. Pictures’ re-boot of the franchise, tentatively set to be released in 2012. At present, no director or cast are attached.

It’ll be interesting to see what Warner Bros. Pictures do this time, and if they learn from the mistakes made by Roland Emmerich in his 1998 film version. Expect more details to be released once this film enters production.

  1. Yes well old Zilla looks like he's been eating a few too many pies but the brilliant minds behind the new incarnation are unlikely to sink lower than the 1998 film.

  2. Godzilla represents the evil of nuclear warfare…atleast he once did. Campy godzilla films could be fun, but if you watch the original, undubbed (with subtitles) japanese version “Gojira” its clear what godzilla was intended to be – and despite the low budget effects the film effectively hammered home the horror of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs. Before americans messed up the film by taking out key scenes and dialog, then adding new scenes, it was one of the best classic monster movies. If Legendary pictures goes back to that style, it will be like moving on from the Adam West Batman (and the Joel Schumacher batman) and into the Christopher Nolan batman. And look how that turned out!
