Come As You Are

Years ago, we covered Hasta La Vista, a Belgian comedy that was full of charm, in a story based on the real life experiences of Asta Philpot. Now, a decade later, comes an American remake entitled Come As You Are – and to mark the occasion we spoke to the film’s leading star, and producer, Grant Rosenmeyer.

Discussing the film on Zoom (a shame as it feels like Grant would make for a fun in-person interview), we speak about his involvement in the project and how he became aware of the story and original movie. He comments on working so closely with Asta during this process, and what he’s taken away from producing for the very first time.

Rosenmeyer also speaks about the positive response the film has received from the disabled community, while he also speaks about the tumultuous socio-political landscape of the US at present, and how he felt about having to rap on camera.

Watch the full interview with Grant Rosenmeyer below:

Synopsis

Three young men with disabilities hit the road with a jaded nurse driver to a brothel in Montreal catering to people with special needs. Remake of the acclaimed Belgian film ‘Hasta La Vista’.
