To celebrate the release of the second part of the sixth – and final – season of Cobra Kai, we had the pleasure of chatting to
Decades after their legendary 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament clash, Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso find themselves on opposite ends of life’s spectrum. A down-on-his-luck Johnny attempts redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai dojo, reigniting his old rivalry with the now-successful Daniel. This, however, reignites old tensions and ignites a new generation of fighters. Cobra Kai, created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, is a sequel to the beloved Karate Kid films. Originally a YouTube Red/Premium series, it shifted to Netflix for later seasons. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and takes place roughly between 2017 and 2019.
Chatting to Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Peyton List (Tory Nichols), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Gianni DeCenzo (Demetri Alexopoulos), Jacob Bertrand (Eli ‘Hawk’ Moskowitz), and Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keen) we talk the finale of the sixth season, emotions coming into the end, what their characters mean to them, joining Ralph Macchio and William Zabka for the final time, what they hope audiences take from the show and why the legacy of The Karate Kid will go on forever.
We also catch up with showrunners Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald about saying goodbye to the characters, why now was the perfect time to finish the show, and much more.
