Cobie Smulders Up For Role in The Avengers

According to The Hollywood Reporter, How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders (whose name sounds like that of an 80’s action character) is in “final negotiations” to take on a supporting role in superhero team-up epic, The Avengers.

If onboard, she’ll be under the guidance of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury as a member of the spy agency SHIELD. Like Jackson (who has already turned up in Iron Man, and will be seen in this year’s Captain America and Thor) there is the possibility that Smulder’s character could appear in any future, post-Avengers Marvel film projects.

Filming is due to commence this April with a projected release date on 4th May 2012.
