If you ask me I can’t see him being a good guy in this one unless there is some unknown character created to help Batman. I could see Hardy playing The Penguin but instead of being fat, he would just be a really powerful crime lord. Although I’m sure he could play The Riddler as well, I think I’d rather see him as a crime boss.
His casting in Batman shouldn’t have any effect on his upcoming projects like This Means War and the continually delayed Mad Max movie.

Like this – a more compelling villian than Joseph Gordon-Levitt I think. He has a real dark side, excellent in Inception. Can see him doing either Riddler or Penguin – Penguin makes more sense, apparently orginally the character was an arms manufacturer/crime lord, not the freak-type character portrayed by Danny Devito. I look forward to hearing more…
This is awesome news! But you mean sub-lead role right? I mean, isn’t Bruce Way the lead character?? 🙂 In any case, this guy’s career is skyrocketing surely, good for him!
If Penguin doesn’t pan out he could always play Tony Zucco, although that may require a Dick Grayson and we don’t want to go down that road.
There’s always Deadshot if they want to do a Batman versus an assassin angle.
Maybe they’re doing Bane properly? That could be good. He could play the joker well…
