Following on from the awesome new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man we saw last week, and the great new promo images earlier today, the first thirty-second TV spot for the film has aired and surfaced online, and it’s brilliant.

Judging from all we’ve seen so far, Marc Webb looks to be proving himself the perfect man to have helmed the project.

Along with being awesome in its own right, the new spot also announces that a four-minute super preview will be debuting on America’s Got Talent on 14th May, and will no doubt hit the Internet very soon (/immediately) after, so be sure to check back in for that.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone star in the leads as Spidey himself and Gwen Stacy, with a great supporting cast that includes Rhys Ifans as The Lizard, along with Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Denis Leary, C. Thomas Howell, Irrfan Khan, and of course Stan Lee himself.

“The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.”

The Amazing Spider-Man will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on 3rd July (a day earlier than expected) in the UK and US, so clear everything on your schedule for the first weekend of July. It’s going to be awesome; I literally cannot wait. Here’s the first TV spot to prove it.

  1. Wow, there’s some over-the-top praising going on here for a film that is being met with a big “MEH” by most viewers, who are split on the reboot, the new costume, the insane hair of Peter Parker, the controversial look of Lizard, the “emo Peter Parker” approach, and so many other questionable approaches.

Here’s hoping that a statement like “Marc Webb looks to be proving himself the perfect man to have helmed the project” doesn’t prove to be as embarrassing as “Joel Schumacher looks to be the perfect guy to reboot Batman!”

The story for this Spider-Man film is that it’s a huge risk, and fans are divided. We will see what the finished product looks like, but it’s hardly worth this much gushing yet.
