Directed by Chandrasekhar, The Babymakers is led by Paul Schneider (Lars and the Real Girl) and Olivia Munn (Soderbergh’s upcoming Magic Mike), with all of the Broken Lizard guys – Chandrasekhar, Kevin Hofferman, Paul Soter, Steve Lemme, and Erik Stolhanske – filling out the supporting cast, along with some other Broken Lizard regulars.
The first red band trailer has hit the net, via Collider and Film School Rejects, and it is pretty damn awesome. Schneider and Munn star as a couple trying and failing to get pregnant when they discover Schneider’s swimmers are a little on the slow side. He realises that there’s a bank that still has one good deposit left from a donation he gave years earlier, and when denied access to it, he enlists the help of the Broken Lizard guys to break the deposit out.
A ridiculous premise? Definitely. But is it going to be amazing? No doubt about it.
If you’re a fan of the Broken Lizard guys and their films – Super Troopers, Beerfest, Club Dread, etc. – this is definitely something to get excited about. This first trailer very much earns its red band stripes though, so if you happen to be at work, I’d advise checking back in later. No word yet on a scheduled release date, but hopefully we’ll be getting it here in the UK sometime next year, because this trailer makes it look brilliant, a bit of comedy gold. Enjoy.
N.B. The image top-left is a shot of the Broken Lizard guys in their Super Troopers outfits, and hasn’t got anything to do with The Babymakers.
TRAILER REMOVED AT THE REQUEST OF THE STUDIO
Didn’t laugh once. Total waste of time.
Interesting marketing. The only Broken Lizard Guys in this are Jay Chandrasekhar and Kevin Heffernan. They must be desperate to get attention for such a unfunny looking film to say the other lizards are in it. Hmmm?
Brilliant? This article must have been written by a mentally challenged 5th grader.
I’m pretty sure all the five are in it, at least according to imdb, and from what I can tell, they look like they’re all in the trailer.
I’ll admit that it doesn’t look as good as Super Troopers, but I still thought the trailer made it look like it should be a decent comedy. Fingers crossed, anyway.
I loved Super Troopers, so I’m willing to give The Babymakers a chance.
I know it’s weird that Imdb lists all the BL guys, but I had a friend who worked on the movie and they told me that only Kevin and Jay are in it. A lot of the other actors are in the super troopers, beerfest etc, but not the main guys. I’m a bit confused because they have such a funny dynamic together and to leave 3 out strange. Anyway, I am a huge fan of Super Troopers and I hope they make Duper Troopers 2
