2: Stanley Kubrick wins One award in his career.

HAL 2001

As mentioned earlier in the article, Stanley Kubrick took home one award in his whole cinematic career, a special effects Academy Award back in 1968 for his work on 2001.

Despite the fact that several of his films were nominated for Academy Awards, none of them ever took any home, whilst he did win a Bafta for Dr Stangelove and another for Barry Lydon, and was recognised by various other awards bodies, Kubrick never got won a best picture or best director prize at the Academy Awards. He did however, win a razzie for his work on The Shining, go figure.
