Foxcatcher has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response from critics and moviegoers. It’s the latest in a not particularly long line of great fight movies which focus on the worlds of fighting in general or wrestling and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).
It’s a shame that more don’t get the formula right, because when they do, we’re left with some truly fantastic releases. Here, we’ve rounded up just ten of our favourites. Some you will more than likely expect to see, but we’re pretty sure that there are more than a few surprises in here which you’ll see are worth checking out!

Despite being a little light on action, Redbelt is arguably one of the best MMA movies to date. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as the owner of a struggling jiu-jitsu gym, problems continue mounting up for a good guy constantly pushed by those around him into breaking his moral code.
With a surprisingly impressive cast which also included Tim Allen and Emily Mortimer, a number of well-known fighting legends make cameo appearances, and the brief fight scenes are extremely impressive. Chronicling the story of a man struggling to hold onto his values and honour, the final fight portrayed that perfectly, with Ejiofor’s gym owner putting everything on the line.
This one flew under the radar, but is well worth checking out if you’re an MMA fan.
