Friday the 13th Slasher

Friday the 13th Part III (1982)

Introducing a new fearsomely antagonistic form of Jason Voorhees, Friday the 13th Part III would juxtapose grim machete wielding brutality with an air of macabre mysticism as a resurrected child would grow up to be big, strong and homicidal.

The image of Jason Voorhees adorned in his blood-spattered hockey mask and jumpsuit has become an iconic piece of pop culture, despite this incarnation of the infamous killer only being introduced in third instalment of the franchise.

Several sequels and reboots have undoubtedly robbed the deformed Voorhees of much of his original impactfulness, yet his most iconic outing still remains a visceral and important piece of cinema thanks to imagery that transcends its genre.
