Superman

They’re two of the most highly anticipated movie from the next couple of years, but neither Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice or Star Wars Episode VII will have a major presence at this year’s Comic-Con.

Warner Bros. have revealed that their Hall H panel will focus on The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Mad Max: Fury Road, and the Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending. There’s absolutely nothing in their schedule about Batman V Superman or any other DC Comics movie announcements.

Of course, there was no mention of a surprise Zack Snyder appearance last year, so it’s very likely that he might once again appear and confirm the Justice League movie if nothing else.

The fact that Warner Bros. haven’t made this official isn’t a good sign though, especially as it has been rumoured that they would announce a whole slate of DC Comics movies, including Wonder Woman.

Disney and Lucasfilm have been far more definite about their Comic-Con plans though, announcing panels for everything from Star Wars Rebels to the new toys and novels which are all on the way. StarWars.com explicitly states that, “With Star Wars: Episode VII creators deep in production in anticipation of the film’s December 18, 2015, release, Lucasfilm will not be featuring the movie at SDCC.”

In the case of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII, it’s hard to imagine them not releasing a teaser poster with the movie’s official title during the event as that announcement is long overdue.

While this is very disappointing news, the fact that Star Wars Episode VII isn’t released until late next year and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is still a little under two years away should have been an indication that both movies would actually be covered in greater detail at next year’s Comic-Con.

Regardless, fans have been quick to express their disappointment, and are now hoping that Marvel Studios will soon announce their plans for something big at the annual event in San Diego…
