Hands up who is already excited by the prospect of Daniel Craig returning as James Bond for Bond 25? Oh, that’s everyone then. Last month, Craig announced that he was indeed returning for one last hurrah as Britain’s finest spy in the latest installment in the franchise and already rumours and theories abound as to what is going to happen next.

Well, one person in the know is producer Barbara Broccoli, daughter of former Bond producer Albert Broccoli, and whilst out at the Toronto International Film Festival last night promoting her latest film, Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, we caught up with her to ask her about the latest installment and while she didn’t give anything away plot wise, she is certainly as excited as we are to see it.

24 films along and still going strong, Broccoli said its Bond’s layers and complexities that keep audiences engaged with the character and why everyone gets so excited by every new adventure. She said:

“I just think he’s very complex and I think he is sort of incorruptible. He does what he does for Queen and country and always try’s to go the right thing, he doesn’t do it for his own personal ambition or fame, he is just a genuine hero and that’s why i think he has survived all these years.”

There has been some work to do to get Craig back into his tuxedo over the last couple of years since 2015’s Spectre, but finally, the actor accepted one last “license to kill” in what will be his final act as Bond. Broccoli said that it is a dream to have got him back for one last film, concluding:

“We’ve had such incredible people making the films with us, such incredible actors and I’m just so happy that Daniel is back – it’s been a dream come true to get him back.”
