Netflix has confirmed that its critically acclaimed spy thriller ‘Black Doves’ is officially back in production for Season 2 — and the next chapter comes armed with an impressive slate of new cast members joining the returning ensemble.
Ambika Mod (One Day) boards the series as Laila, an acerbic, anarchic Black Doves agent assigned to assist Helen on a high-stakes mission. Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth) steps into the role of Mr Conteh, a high-ranking Black Doves executive whose motivations are anything but clear. Sam Riley (Firebrand) plays Patrick, an emissary from a cryptic organisation who offers Sam an unexpected lifeline. Also joining the cast is Neve Campbell (Scream) as Cecile Mason.
Additional new casting includes Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) as Katia Chernov, Goran Kostić (Canary Black, Ant-Man and The Wasp) as Alexi Chernov, and Samuel Barnett (Lee) as Jerry.
They join returning leads Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire, alongside Andrew Buchan, Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O’Casey and Molly Chesworth — all back as the world of Black Doves expands and intensifies.
Filming is now underway in and around London.

Season 2 Logline
Helen (Keira Knightley) continues to secretly funnel her nation’s intelligence to the covert organisation she serves: the Black Doves. But in the aftermath of last Christmas’s deadly misadventures — and with her husband Wallace (Andrew Buchan) preparing to become Prime Minister — the line she walks has never been more perilous.
As Mrs Reed (Sarah Lancashire), Helen’s enigmatic handler, becomes ensnared in a ruthless plot to destabilise her position within the Black Doves, Helen reunites with her closest friend, Sam (Ben Whishaw). Once an elite triggerman, Sam is now drifting through Soho’s bars and scraping by on low-rent hits. Together, they dive back into the shadows in search of answers — but in this world, trust is fragile, loyalties cut deep, and protecting the people they love may demand the highest price.
With the explosive wit and razor-edged tension of its first season, Season 2 sends Helen and Sam back into a labyrinth of old friends, new enemies, dark secrets and painful sacrifices. Their mission will lead them to the very heart of the Black Doves.
The series hails from writer, creator and executive producer Joe Barton (Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project).
