Aziz Ansari and Chris O’Dowd are arguably two of the most talked about comedic actors working today. They star in two of TV’s most critically-acclaimed shows (PARKS AND RECREATION, GIRLS) and they each have very devoted fan bases.
In EPIC, the two actors star as Mub and Grub – a slug and snail who are tasked with protecting the coveted pod which will save the forest from the destructive villain known as Mandrake.
We sat down with Ansari and O’Dowd to talk about the film, and instead we veered into very random territories. We talk about Will and Jaden Smith as they give me the plotline for After Earth, their favorite animated films, and even the cult classic 80’s comedy SHORT CIRCUIT in which Ansari wants to play the Fisher Stevens character! I love how chris o’dowd gives you a roung time, but in a fun kind of way. Did they tell you ahead of time that they were going to be goofy?
They did. Basically they went through my entire list of questions and said they weren’t going to answer them. They wanted to talk more about Will Smith. Ultimately, I had to just let them do their thing. Rule of thumb when interviewing comedians: expect anything.
