We had a first official look at Robert Downey, Jr. on the set of Iron Man 3 last month, and now we’ve got a brilliant first look at a very cool piece of concept art, showing off Downey, Jr. as the superhero we all know and love.
Currently in production, Iron Man 3 is our next stop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Downey, Jr.’s writer-director on Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Shane Black, taking over the helm from Jon Favreau (who will still be starring as Happy Hogan).
Starring alongside them will be Sir Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Gwyneth Paltrow, James Badge Dale, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall, Ashley Hamilton, and the ever-brilliant Paul Bettany as the voice of JARVIS.
Black is directing from a script he co-wrote with Drew Pearce (who’s penned the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 3), basing the film on Warren Ellis’ Extremis arc, delving into the world of nano-technology: so expect ridiculously awesome graphics.
Iron Man 3 will hit the ground running on 3rd May, 2013, with The Avengers coming to DVD/Blu-ray on 17th September before then, in case you need to catch up – though its $1.4bn. box office haul would suggest, odds are, you saw it in the cinema.
