Disney recently gave press an exclusive look at the first trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third chapter in James Cameron’s ongoing sci-fi saga. The footage offers a sweeping, high-stakes glimpse into the next stage of the story, and it is packed with action, tension, and new corners of Pandora. The trailer teases the arrival of new Na’vi clans, the return of familiar characters, and the looming threat of a full-scale war. The trailer is also set to be shown exclusively in cinemas starting July 24, paired with screenings of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The film itself lands in cinemas on December 19, 2025.
Among the most striking moments is the reappearance of Colonel Miles Quaritch, now in Na’vi form and marked in Ash People war paint—suggesting a dangerous allegiance. We see Jake Sully being restrained and marched away by human soldiers. In a tense shot, Spider gasps for air, hinting at high stakes and a life-threatening scenario. The Metkayina (Water Tribe) return to join forces with Jake’s family, preparing to face off against the Ash People, who have rejected traditional Na’vi beliefs.
The Ash People make a commanding first impression. Their leader, Varang, delivers a cold line that cuts through the trailer’s chaos: “Your goddess has no dominion here.” Visually, they stand apart—gray-skinned, inked with black patterns, and surrounded by flame. There are intense glimpses of airborne battles, fire-wielding warriors, and explosive battles. Wind Traders ride makeshift flying rigs, while Fire Na’vi launch into combat on dragon-like beasts. In one particularly vivid moment, a Na’vi takes a flaming arrow to the chest mid-battle, while Spider slides across crumbling rocks with explosions erupting behind him—Jake stretching out a hand, desperately trying to save him.
The trailer sets the stage for a multi-front war—Na’vi against Na’vi, but also against the resurging human threat. The story picks up after The Way of Water, as the RDA refocuses its mission to eliminate Jake and his family. Returning cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoë Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang, with this installment introducing the Ash People, a tribe native to Pandora’s volcanic zones. The tone is clearly darker and heavier. While the trailer stuns visually, it plays more like a sizzle reel than a full narrative tease. It doesn’t give much away, but there’s no denying the scale and ambition.
