At-MiddletonThat title may feel like an effort to damn the film with faint praise, but it is not intended to be a slight on what looks like a thoroughly sweet and enjoyable film.

So much comedy these days seems to skew towards the lewd and crude it is refreshing to see a couple of seasoned pros (Andy Garcia of The Untouchables, Godfather Pt 3 and City Island fame and Vera Farmiga of Source Code, Up In The Air and The Departed) enjoying themselves with endearing laughs.

At Middleton features the said stars as parents taking their kids to a college open day, but connecting and going off on a little campus tour of their own. Whether there are edgier moments in the film itself, or the tone of this cheery trailer corresponds with the rest of the film remains to be seen, but with Peter Riegert, Tom Skerritt and Farmiga’s kid sister Taissa fleshing out the cast, this looks like being a lot of unassuming, undemanding fun.

At Middleton has spent much of the past few months touring assorted film festivals and will get a limited theatrical release in the US early next year.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
