Ever since Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson’s finally took ownership of the Captain America shield in Marvel series ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ the rumours that he would return for a fourth feature have been banded around. It’s now been confirmed that Mackie has finally reached a deal to be part of the instalment.

Back in April, it was revealed that a fourth ‘Captain America’ was in development with a story by ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ creator Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. A director has yet to be found and no other cast announcements have been made.

It is thought, other cast from the series such as Sebastian Stan, include Wyatt Russell, whose character John Walker temporarily held the Captain America shield before revealing himself to be unworthy of it, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine could also be involved.

Mackie has been a part of the  MCU since 2014’s ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and was Steve Roger’s first choice to take over the mantel of ‘Captain America’ at the end of ‘Avengers: End Game’. After a few internal struggles, Wilson officially assumed the mantle over the course of the Disney Plus series.

The series has been nominated for five Emmys and has been highly praised for its storyline, bringing the Black experience into the conversation quite unlike any other superhero film or TV show.
