Godzilla Vs Kong helmer, Adam Wingard has promised his adaptation of the major monster battle, which is due for release in 2020, will have audiences getting in touch with their emotional side.

During an interview with Screen Crush while on a promotional tour for his Netflix film, Death Note, he revealed that his version of the oversized monster stand-off will differ to what we have seen numerous times before. After revisiting those classic films and re-experiencing what he felt as a child when he first watched the movies inspired him to take a more emotional route but has promised that the action has in no way been compromised.
“Some of those Godzilla movies I haven’t seen since I was a kid so revisiting them was a lot of fun. To be able to almost go back in time and re-experience what that was like – I was able to directly empathize with that feeling when I really felt like, maybe Godzilla really is going to lose in this movie. That was really important because it helped me remember, going forward on [Godzilla vs. King Kong], the kind of feelings people are going to have when they watch it.
“That’s what I want to do, I really want you to take those characters seriously. I want you to be emotionally invested, not just in the human characters, but actually in the monsters. If I had my way, I want people to really be teary-eyed at the end of the movie, and be that invested into what’s going on”
Godzilla Vs. Kong will be the third release in the newly revamped saga following on from Jordan Vogt-Roberts reintroduction to Kong in Kong: Skull Island and the upcoming sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters from Michael Doughtery which is set to be released March 2019.
