It may have only run for two years, but with 120 episodes beneath its utility belt, the classic Batman TV series has gained a cult following over the decades. It lives on with an ongoing comic book series and a recently released Blu-ray set, but original star Adam West and Burt Ward are now set to reprise their roles.

This was announced by Ward during a panel at the Mad Monster Party in Charlotte, North Carolina over the weekend, and it’s set to reach us next year. “You can look forward to a new animated Batman, full length 90-minute feature, coming out on the 50th anniversary. One of possibly two, but for sure one, that Adam and I are doing the voices for.” Those are the only details we have for now, but expect to hear more very soon!

Warner Bros. Animation has made a number of very popular direct to DVD’s over the years (adapting plenty of classic comic book stories), and based on the success of those, this has the potential to be something special. It remains to be seen whether or not any other original cast members will join the Dynamic Duo!
