Playing as the opening film for this year’s London Film Festival Amma Asante’s compelling A United Kingdom is one of the year’s best films.

Rosamund Pike and David Oyelowo lead the film along with Tom Felton, Laura Carmichael, Jack Davenport, Jack Lowden and Jessica Oyelowo.

We have interviews with Oyelowo and Pike already published, which you can see here, and today Hayley Donaghy sits down with the film’s director Amma Asante.

Synopsis

Prince Seretse Khama of Botswana causes an international stir when he marries a white woman from London in the late 1940s.
