A few weeks ago I had the chance to interview Renny Harlin about his latest film, 5 Days Of War. He proved to be a passionate, enthusiastic and gracious interview subject and you can see what we discussed and also read my review of the film here.

5 Days of War is getting a proper theatrical release in the US, but we are having to content ourselves with a DVD release here in the UK. Having watched the film on the small screen, I can confirm it still has plenty of impact, but I continue to maintain that it is a shame the film could not get the UK theatrical release that the scale, quality and subject matter of the film deserve.

While we are on the subject of 5 Days of War, here is a new poster for the film, which in now standard fashion has been photo-shopped beyond all reasonable measures. Frustrating, because it makes an otherwise sincere and impactful film appear cheap and silly. Anyway, IMP have brought us this one, so thanks to them.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
