It was recently revealed that Disney/Lucasfilm and Josh Trank had parted ways over the 2018 Star Wars Anthology movie he was set to direct, possibly because producer Simon Kinberg was unhappy with his conduct during production of Fantastic Four. Whatever the reason might be – it’s safe to say it’s not “flu” – the project is without a director as of right now, but a new report at least sheds light on the main star!

According to The Wrap, it’s going to focus on the origin of Boba Fett, the fan-favourite bounty hunter who appeared in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. He also showed up as a child in Attack of the Clones, but it’s probably a safe bet that this Star Wars Anthology movie will skip that period.

Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One will focus on a rogue band of resistance fighters who unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans. Early rumours pointed to that team consisting of bounty hunters – Boba Fett included – but it’s actually the 2018 movie which is set to delve into that world.

Boba Fett is an interesting choice for the movie, but one which should make longtime Star Wars fans very happy. However, will spending two hours with the character rob him of the mystique which makes him so well-liked? That remains to be seen, but there’s definitely the potential here for something truly great.
