Now comes news that the script is complete and has been submitted to the studio for approval – although writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof are apparently still rewriting and tweaking – and the film has a firm stardate. Er, I mean start date: January 15th, 2012.
But that’s not all. Industrial Light and Magic have already begun work on the film’s visual effects and are no doubt readying some awe-inspiring new shots of the redesigned U.S.S. Enterprise to stun cinemagoers. Sources also claim that the new movie will have a bigger scope than its predecessor, and as if to confirm that, Abrams and his team have already been out and about scouting locations. Somewhere in Hawaii is under serious consideration as a jungle planet, while a museum in Los Angeles is said to be appearing as a ‘famous Star Trek location’ – a tease that will no doubt lead to months of rampant speculation among fans as to what exactly that location might be…
