3. Archangel
Angel was played by Ben Foster in X-Men: The Last Stand, but like most of the mutants introduced in that movie, his big screen debut was a massive disappointment for comic book fans.
After being saved by Apocalypse, who gave him techno-organic wings and made him one of his Four Horseman (specifically Death), Warren Worthington III was eventually freed from his service. However, the dark persona remained and caused him to be in a constant struggle for control. It would eventually consume him, resulting in Archangel becoming the new Apocalypse and his X-Force teammates having to take down their former friend down for good.
This is again another example of a story which the groundwork could be laid for in X-Men: Apocalypse, only to then be continued either in Jeff Wadlow’s X-Force spinoff or a future X-Men movie.
