Yesterday, Marvel and Netflix finally released the first full-length trailer for Jessica Jones (if
Jessica Jones has actually been in development for years now, so the fact that it’s finally happening is pretty damn great. For a while, it was being put together as A.K.A. Jessica Jones at ABC – the network behind Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – but it’s clear that the character is a much better fit with Netflix’s heroes of Hell’s Kitchen; Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
So, now that we have our first proper look at the show, what exactly does the trailer reveal?
Here, we take a look at the ten most significant moments from this Jessica Jones teaser, touching on Easter Eggs, how the show matches up to the comics, and what it tells us about what we should expect from the 13 part series when it reaches us on November 20th…
10. Alias Investigations
Jessica Jones isn’t a character with decades worth of history. In fact, she was retconned into the Marvel Universe in 2001 by Brian Michael Bendis in her then newly launched comic book series which was titled “Alias”. That means this show only has so much material to borrow from, but it’s very cool to see the trailer kick off with a moment torn straight from the pages of the source material. This opening shot also establishes that just like her comic book counterpart, this Jessica Jones runs a private detective agency called Alias Investigations. Whether or not she’ll be dealing with cases solely do to with superpowers isn’t clear, though seeing as the trailer seems to emphasise her desire to move on from that life, it’s doubtful.
