10 Things You Need to Know About Shazam and Black Adam

5. Black Adam’s Origin Story

Black Adam 1

Originally a slave, Adam gained his powers when his young nephew Aman was imbued with them by a mysterious wizard. He saved his uncle by sharing his newfound abilities between them. While Aman wanted to use his new powers to help his people and cure his former slavemasters of their evil souls, Adam only sought vengeance against those who had enslaved them.

To this end, when Aman called down the lightning, Adam seemingly killed Aman so that he himself was the sole recipient of the power. That’s a pretty dark origin story, and it gives The Rock some very different and complex material to work with when he brings this character to life. In Adam’s case, S is for the stamina of Shu, H for the swiftness of Heru, A for the strength of Amon, Z for the wisdom of Zehuti, A for the power of Aton, and M for the courage of Mehen.

  1. One note: Superman does not have a weakness to magic. He just doesn’t have any special protection against it. He is as vulnerable to magic as any other person, but no more vulnerable.

  2. Number 10 sounds like this is going to be a love-fest for Black Adam and a stroke-off to Geoff Johns’ ego.

Number 9 is complete and utter garbage. The only issue Marvel had with DC over Captain Marvel was the use of the name on comic book covers. Geoff Johns declared that “Shazam” was a “better known” name than Captain Marvel, which is crap. FYI, Johns GOT RID OF Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury, labeling them as “unnecessary to the mythos.”

Number 8: so what? I think, with some cosmetic appliances, Oded Fehr would make a better Black Adam. He can actually act. The Rock plays only one “character”: the Rock.

Number 7: ah, yes… ANOTHER book Johns “writes” (read: uses to PANDER to his fanboi base). FYI, if he has the “wisdom of Solomon,” it would COMPENSATE for any “inexperience.”

Number 6: THAT is NOT Billy Batson; he’s a pale, twisted imitation of Billy. Billy Batson was a GOOD KID who SAW the wrong path EVERY DAY and REFUSED to follow it.

I’m not even going to try to go through five through one. This whole article is proof that neither you, nor Johns, nor the people behind this crap knows the character (CAPTAIN MARVEL) OR his history.
