10 Things You Need to Know About Shazam and Black Adam

6. …But Shazam Is Actually A Child Called Billy Batson

Shazam 4

Though Shazam has the outer appearance of someone like Superman, this is who he transforms into from Billy Batson, an arrogant and troubled 15-year-old foster child living in Philadelphia who has gone through several foster homes mostly because of his seemingly unfriendly and spiteful nature.

Initially planning on making money with his newfound powers – which are granted to him by a dying Wizard soon after Black Adam is released – he soon finds himself bonding with his foster brothers and sisters after sharing his powers with them in a bid to stop Adam once and for all.

As it turns out, Billy isn’t a bad kid, and while this is the most recent take on his origin, he’s been portrayed very differently over the years, so they have a lot of material to pick and choose from when it comes to creating Billy.

  1. One note: Superman does not have a weakness to magic. He just doesn’t have any special protection against it. He is as vulnerable to magic as any other person, but no more vulnerable.

  2. Number 10 sounds like this is going to be a love-fest for Black Adam and a stroke-off to Geoff Johns’ ego.

Number 9 is complete and utter garbage. The only issue Marvel had with DC over Captain Marvel was the use of the name on comic book covers. Geoff Johns declared that “Shazam” was a “better known” name than Captain Marvel, which is crap. FYI, Johns GOT RID OF Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury, labeling them as “unnecessary to the mythos.”

Number 8: so what? I think, with some cosmetic appliances, Oded Fehr would make a better Black Adam. He can actually act. The Rock plays only one “character”: the Rock.

Number 7: ah, yes… ANOTHER book Johns “writes” (read: uses to PANDER to his fanboi base). FYI, if he has the “wisdom of Solomon,” it would COMPENSATE for any “inexperience.”

Number 6: THAT is NOT Billy Batson; he’s a pale, twisted imitation of Billy. Billy Batson was a GOOD KID who SAW the wrong path EVERY DAY and REFUSED to follow it.

I’m not even going to try to go through five through one. This whole article is proof that neither you, nor Johns, nor the people behind this crap knows the character (CAPTAIN MARVEL) OR his history.
