A Venom movie has reportedly been on the cards for years now, with Josh Trank the latest director to be attached to a possible spin-off featuring the character. Many fans thought that his inclusion in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 was a precursor to that, but both his fate and the negative reaction from fans to Topher Grace’s take on Eddie Brock meant that never happened.
With a new Spider-Man franchise now in cinemas, Venom now has another chance to be one of Sony’s biggest spin-offs. The best direction for them to take for a movie starring the character would be to base it on his anti-hero, “Lethal Protector” days rather than the monstrous and insane iteration whose host was former Scorpion, Mac Gargan.
