9. The Honourable Woman

Co-produced with the BBC, The Honourable Woman has the potential to be an international hit and all the makings of a serious awards contender in the near future.

Following the daughter of an Israeli arms dealer who takes over her father’s empire following his assassination, it also sees another movie star make the jump to high quality television. This time it’s The Dark Knight’s Maggie Gyllenhall, and the real hook here is that her character decides to use her father’s resources in order to focus on the reconciliation projects between Israel and Palestine, creating all sorts of political problems and controversy in the process.

The Honourable Woman’s cast is pretty big, with Stephen Rea, Andrew Buchan, Eve Best, and Janet McTeer among the highlights. The fact that the whole season is written and directed by Hugo Blick (The Shadow Line) only helps to make this one even more appealing.
