A little earlier this year, Warner Bros. finally
Marvel have a huge head start on their Distinguished Competition of course, but after years of focusing on only Batman and Superman, it appears as if Warner Bros. have finally realised that they’re sitting on a goldmine by finally giving the likes of Justice League, Wonder Woman, and Suicide Squad the green light.
Despite how happy fans were with the announcement of all these movies based on their favourite DC Comics properties, there were still a number of releases we all expected to see which didn’t make the cut.
Why? That’s obviously information we’ve not been made privy to, but regardless of whether they were rumoured or just expected, there were definitely some DC characters who were shockingly excluded. Here, we take a look at just ten of the DC Comics movies we were most surprised not to see announced.
For years, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made it clear that he wanted to play a superhero (or villain) in a movie regardless of whether it was for Marvel or DC. Of course, we now know that he’ll play Black Adam in Shazam – though it’s interesting that he wasn’t named in the press release, a possible indication that the deal has yet to close – but it did appear that he might end up playing fan-favourite DC Comics character Lobo.
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island director Brad Peyton became attached and Johnson confirmed that he was talking to the studio about playing the foul mouthed bounty hunter on a number of occasions. For whatever reason, it hasn’t happened, and with the focus now on Shazam…it probably never will.
