Marvel made headlines recently when they announced their full Phase 3 movie slate (barring any surprise additions which will be announced over the next few years), but there were still some notable omissions.
Whether it was movies which had been rumoured or just those that fans had their hopes set on seeing, the Phase 3 slate could still benefit from a few more characters being given the spotlight on the big screen.
Here, we take a look at just ten which should have either been included or we were expecting. There’s still a chance both they and a number of others could be unveiled at some point in the near future of course, but for now it appears as if we’ll have to be content with the nine which have already been revealed by Marvel…
10. Iron Man 4
Weeks before Marvel announced their upcoming slate of releases, Robert Downey Jr. both confirmed and denied the existence of Iron Man 4 a number of times while promoting The Judge.
As well as one more Avengers outing, the actor’s only other commitment to Marvel Studios is Captain America: Civil War, a movie he will have a leading role in as Iron Man and the threequel’s titular hero go to war over the Superhuman Registration Act.
It appears as if this is the closest we’re going to get to an Iron Man 4 then as Tony Stark will likely become more of a background figure, possibly evolving into an antagonist in the process. Iron Man 3 is the only solo movie released by Marvel to hit $1 billion, but you have to imagine that Captain America’s third outing will achieve that same feat off the back of The Winter Soldier and with Downey’s involvement.
