Comic book movies are taking over our cinemas, and with more characters and sequels on the way over the next few years, more fan-favourite comic books arcs will undoubtedly reach the big screen in some shape or form.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a perfect example of that last year, while we know that the follow-up to that movie will adapt the beloved Civil War comic book event which hit stands in 2006. However, there are more than a few comic book moments and stories which we can’t see ever being adapted for film.

Here, we list just ten controversial, weird, shocking, or downright wrong comic book moments it’s hard to picture ever seeing up on the big screen, explaining what they’re about and why they’ll stay on the page.

10. Ant-Man Beats His Wife

Hank Pym

Early on in his career, Hank Pym went through a number of different costumed identities, including Ant-Man, Giant-Man, and Yellowjacket. This was explained by the fact that he was suffering from a personality disorder and depression, and during a story arc which saw him plan to betray the Avengers in an attempt to get back their trust after creation Ultron, he struck his wife The Wasp in a moment which has defined the character ever since.

While this version of events happened in a moment of temper, the Ultimate take on Pym saw him characterised as a notorious abuser who used his ants to attack a shrunken down version of Janet. This is a moments we definitely don’t expect to see play out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Ant-Man is released later this year, especially as they’ve previously shied away from Tony Stark’s alcoholism.
