10. Ant-Man Beats His Wife
Early on in his career, Hank Pym went through a number of different costumed identities, including Ant-Man, Giant-Man, and Yellowjacket. This was explained by the fact that he was suffering from a personality disorder and depression, and during a story arc which saw him plan to betray the Avengers in an attempt to get back their trust after creation Ultron, he struck his wife The Wasp in a moment which has defined the character ever since.
While this version of events happened in a moment of temper, the Ultimate take on Pym saw him characterised as a notorious abuser who used his ants to attack a shrunken down version of Janet. This is a moments we definitely don’t expect to see play out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Ant-Man is released later this year, especially as they’ve previously shied away from Tony Stark’s alcoholism.
