Arrow is a hit and The Flash has broken ratings records for The CW, so a third series being added at some point was always inevitable. Speculation ranged from it focusing on everyone from The Atom to Firestorm, but just about everyone was left shocked when it was revealed that it would in fact be a team-up series.
The confirmed cast members so far are Brandon Routh (The Atom), Victor Garber (one half of Firestorm, Dr. Martin Stein), Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), and Caity Lotz (The Canary). That’s a very unique line-up, and how these characters will all fit into the series is impossible to say at this point. Will they all feature in every episode or is this spinoff set to just focus on one or two of them at a time. Sadly, we just don’t know yet.
It’s obvious though that the series is going to feature a number of different heroes and villains, especially as rumour has it that The CW is looking to add three characters who have never been seen in live-action before.
There are some of those here, and plenty of others who have been introduced in some form or other over the years who we would like to see reintroduced or taken to the next level by adopting their heroic (or villainous) alter-egos. Whatever direction this series takes, these character must be included at some point…
Zatanna is a character who it would have been great to see show up in Constantine, but the chances of that series getting a second season are looking slim right now unfortunately. In an ideal world, John will show up in this spinoff too, but for the time being, let’s focus on the kick ass female character Zatanna.
If there’s one thing that the world of The Arrow and The Flash is currently missing, it’s magic. A stage performer, Zatanna is actually a very powerful magician whose enchantments work when she says them backwards.
It would be easy to introduce her in a minor supporting role in this series before letting her take on a leading role and bringing in any number of characters with magical backgrounds who The Arrow and The Flash could face.
