Proving that British humour can’t be translated for American audiences, The IT Crowd’s remake got nothing right. The handsome Joel McHale taking on the role of Chris O’Dowd’s brilliantly awkward Roy felt wrong, as did picking the glamorous Jessica St. Clair to play Jen.
If you consider those a good example of miscasting, how about keeping Richard Ayoade as Moss? You might think that’s a smart decision, but it’s just plain weird seeing him alongside his new American co-stars instead of the Roy and Jen we all know and love.
Despite the fact that a full series was ordered by NBC in 2007, the pilot was enough for them to scrap those plans.
