Fifteen days and counting until Lionsgate unleash The Hunger Games.

Over the past nine months, Gary Ross’ adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ novel has been steadily gaining more and more attention through its ad campaign, and it looks like that could all pay off in two weeks’ time, with early tracking numbers showing the potential for an opening to outperform the first Twilight film.

Yesterday we saw a great new clip of Jennifer Lawrence and Lenny Kravitz from the film, our second clip so far, and today brings with it a new TV Spot, describing the film as The Movie Event of the Year, courtesy of the film’s Facebook page.

The epic crowds and horses-and-carriages 10 seconds into the clip look undeniably of a grand scale/vision.

With the new TV spot also comes the chance to have your questions put to the cast and filmmakers of The Hunger Games when they appear at the World Premiere on Monday. To submit your questions, all you have to go is click here and write your question in the comments of that post on the film’s official Facebook.

“In a not-too-distant future, the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss’ young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta, the son of the town baker who seems to have all the fighting skills of a lump of bread dough, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.”

Lawrence, who’ll be playing the lead, heroine Katniss Everdeen, will be supported by the likes of Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Isabelle Fuhrman, Willow Shields, Lenny Kravitz, Amandla Stenberg, and the awesome Wes Bentley.

With the film poised to take the box office top spot in two weeks, Lionsgate have already set Simon Beaufoy the task of writing the sequel, Catching Fire, of what will almost certainly become the trilogy of Collins’ original The Hunger Games novels.

And in case you’re worried that this first film won’t do the original novel justice, Collins herself has already seen the film and given it her official approval.

The Hunger Games will be out on 23rd March, in regular and IMAX cinemas, and if you’re new to the Games, you can catch up on all our coverage for the film right here. It looks pretty damn good, and here’s the new TV spot to prove it.
