Following on from the brilliant new IMAX poster that debuted last night for The Dark Knight Rises comes this epic new TV spot promoting the film’s release in IMAX theatres in two weeks’ time, along with a handful of awesome new hi-res images.

The BFI IMAX have had tickets on sale for a few weeks now, and as you can imagine, they’ve been selling out very quickly.

“Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive.  Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good.  For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda.  Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile.  But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.”

Christian Bale returns once more under the direction of Christopher Nolan for their final instalment of the immense Batman trilogy, with the cast-of-the-year supporting them in the form of Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Juno Temple, and Marion Cotillard.

Nolan is directing from a script co-written by himself and brother Jonathan Nolan, based on a story by the director and David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight).

With reports estimating that there’ll be just shy of an hour’s worth of IMAX footage in the film itself, what more of a reason could you need to see it on the biggest and best screen possible?

If ever there were a film to see at the IMAX, this is it.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released in two weeks on 20th July, at both regular and (of course) IMAX theatres. Book your tickets early, because this is going to be one hell of a ride. Here’s the TV spot to prove it, followed by the great new hi-res images, which you can click to enlarge.
