Last night, we got to spend the evening with many of the lovely folks from LOVEFiLM as they did a fantastic job live streaming the 2011 British Independent Film Awards (see all our coverage from the great event here). I have massive respect for LOVEFiLM, not only are they so nice to work alongside at many events, they are a great inspiration to me in the way the company started and have grown into becoming the UK’s number one movie go-to rental service and was recently purchased by Amazon so I’m always keen to seen what they’re up to next.

We put up a press release a few months ago that LOVEFiLM would be coming to Xbox Live in the near future and I’m pleased to report that as of today, the streaming version of the rental service can now be accessed via you Xbox consoles. This should now mean no need to plug your laptop into your TV to watch you movies but the all-in-one console can now do the work for you. I use mine to watch Sky all the time and now I have even less reason to leave my living room.

I’ve placed the full press release below and I think the next time you turn on XBox Live, you’ll have an update ready and waiting for you.

We are partnering with Microsoft as they launch their new content roll out, so look out for a lot more coverage. If you have an Xbox 360 and are looking forward to this new side to the console’s offering please take this survey and keep an eye out for more here on HeyUGuys.
