Bryan Singer describes X-Men: Apocalypse as “a big monster of a movie”, and it’s hard to disagree after looking at the epic new concept art below. We get to see Charles Xavier using Cerebro – he still doesn’t appear to be bald – along with the X-Men’s Blackbird jet and a look at Apocalypse’s ancient Egyptian home.

Talking to Empire, producer and writer Simon Kinberg elaborated on the roles Scott Summers/Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), and Storm (Alexandra Shipp) will have in X-Men: Apocalypse.

“They’re as much a part ?of the movie as our main cast. Scott is not yet the squeaky-clean leader. Storm is ?a troubled character who is going down the wrong path in life. And Jean is complex, interesting and not fully mature. It’s fun to see someone struggling with their powers when you know one day they’ll become the most powerful person in the world.” There’s also been a rumour doing the rounds today that this and The Wolverine sequel will bring Singer’s X-Men Universe to an end, which is why these younger mutants are probably being introduced as franchise vets like Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence decide to move on.

As well as returning cast members James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Ian McKellen, X-Men: Apocalypse will also introduce Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Condor, Oscar Isaac, Ben Hardy, Olivia Munn, and a number of others. It’s a long list!

X-Men Apocalypse is set to be released on May 27th, 2016. Which mutants do we most want to see in Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past follow-up? Well, you can find that out by clicking right here.
