John C. Reilly had already made an unofficial announcement, but today it was confirmed by Disney Animation Studios that Wreck-it Ralph 2 has gone into production and will be released on the 9th of March 2018.

So Ralph returns to wreck the internet, which is a logical progression from the retro cage of the arcade in the original. Rich Moore and Phil Johnston are co-directing the film and it is expected that other voices will return including Jack McBrayer as Fix-It Felix, and Jane Lynch as Calhoun. Perhaps Felix’s father (who gave him his magic hammer) could be part of Wreck-It 2?
We loved the original, and Disney have a pretty solid track record of late. We can’t wait. Game on!
