There have been rumblings for a while now that Will Smith may be preparing to reunite with Martin Lawrence for another Bad Boys movie, but the actor has now confirmed that it is indeed on the way in the very near future. Bad Boys was released in 1995, with the sequel following in 2003, but there will obviously be an even bigger gap between II and III!

Asked about his next potential project recently Smith revealed: “Bad Boys. There is a very strong possibility that you will be seeing a Bad Boys within the next 12 to 16 months.”

If that’s the case, production should begin soon, and this confirmation from the actor comes just a couple of months after Sony promised that Bad Boys 3 will be released in February 2017, with Bad Boys 4 following in July 2019. So yeah, the movie is really happening!

Before Smith reprises that iconic role, he’ll star in DC Comics adaptation Suicide Squad as Deadshot next year. Little is know about what kind of story arc his character will have in the David Ayer helmed release, but it has previously been reported that he’s one of the leads.

“[Suicide Squad] is insane,” he revealed before commenting on Jared Leto’s take on The Joker. “I’ve never actually met Jared Leto. We worked together for 6 months and we’ve never exchanged a word outside of ‘Action!’ and ‘Cut!’ […] I literally have not met him yet. So, the first time I see him will be ‘Hey, Jared. What’s up?’ […] He was all in on the Joker.”
