Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly stole the show when they teamed up forĀ Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, but they’re now set to finally reunite in a brand new comedy for Sony Pictures.

According to Deadline, they’ll be paired up for Holmes & Watson, a PG-13 movie with a similar tone to their previous collaborations. As you may have already guessed, Ferrell is playing Sherlock Holmes, while Reilly will take on the role of his trusty partner John Watson.

Ferrell was originally going to star in the movie alongside Sacha Baron Cohen, but that didn’t pan out. Etan Cohen meanwhile is attached to direct. He’s written a number of comedies (including Tropic Thunder and Men in Black 3), while he most recently helmed Get Hard.

We spoke to Director Adam McKay about reuniting the pair earlier this year

This is now one of many Sherlock Holmes adaptations in various forms of development. Along with the impending return of the BBC series, there’s the American version (Elementary), and a third instalment of the Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law led franchise.

It’s going to be very interesting seeing how this project develops over the coming months, and with production set to begin later this year, we’ll hopefully hear more aboutĀ Holmes & Watson soon. Ferrell and Reilly being back together is well worth getting excited about.
