Warner Bros. recently announced the release dates of a number of DC Comics adaptations which are set to debut between 2016 and 2020, and it appears as if Aquaman will definitely be one of them!

It has been revealed tonight that Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire) have each been hired to write Aquaman…separately! It seems odd, but the reason for this is because they want to give the movie a pretty strong push as a release date was set without a script being in place.

Both Beall and Johnstad will develop a script and these are then combined. For example, with the Tarzan reboot, Warner Bros. hired writers Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer to each pen separate screenplays for Tarzan, as they preferred Cozad’s action and structure elements and Brewer’s characterization, so later fused both drafts.

It’s believed that Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa will play Aquaman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, though that has not yet been confirmed by Warner Bros.

When Aquaman will be released isn’t clear, but the fact that it’s one of the first we’ve heard about could indicate that the King of Atlantis will star in his own solo movie in 2017.

Zack Snyder recently defended Aquaman (a character who has become the punchline of many jokes over the years) and made it clear that he’s a character that should be taken seriously. You can find that here.
