This is a bit of an early Christmas present for us all. A new Wes Anderson short entitled Come Together has been unveiled which sends flurries of goodwill and charm into the distinct air of the director.

Featuring Adrien Brody as the conductor of a wintertime train, the advert for H&M is three minutes of pure Anderson. Having a performer as facially emotive as Brody works wonders for the film, as he is tasked with solving a very particular festive problem. The solution he comes up with is charm itself, and should send you all the way to the high street with a warm feeling in your heart. Or not.

Whatever, anything new from Anderson is a joy, and this proves to be no exception. Gather round the fire with your loved ones, crack open a warm jorum of mulled wine and enjoy.

And as a special seasonal treat of our own we’re presenting you with a few of the director’s previous adverts. All of which feature his particular brand of quirk and beautiful pastel style.

Featuring a call back to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Wes Anderson’s 2012 advert for Hyundai is a visual feast and has charm enough to win over the most ardent Scrooge.

Sending himself up as part of this AMEX advert is the most Wes Andersony piece of self indulgence on here. That he is in on the joke, and probably is the best one to tell it, is testament to the confidence and utter lack of cynicism we know and love him for.

We’re back in time for Wes Anderson’s beer commercial, and there’s a playful Mad Man-esque quality our last advert today. That companies will pay for the services and the following of a director may be a sketchy artistic line to walk, but when the directors refuse to compromise, as Anderson so clearly does here, then we all win.
