Conjuring

The Conjuring shocked (and scared) everyone last summer when it proved to be a critical and commercial hit. Talk of a sequel began almost as soon as it was released, and now Warner Bros. have finally set a date for when we’ll be able to see it.

The fact that the first instalment took over $318 million in a busy blockbuster season was impressive enough, but the studio has now selected a release window which should help bring in even more: October 23rd, 2015. That will mean The Conjuring 2 will open just one week after Guillermo del Toro’s own horror movie, Crimson Peak.

There is of course plenty of time for other movies to take either one of those dates or something near, and it seems almost inevitable that another instalment of the Paranormal Activity franchise will be one of them.

It was rumoured last year that The Conjuring sequel will take Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) to 1970s England to investigate the alleged possession of two young girls. Chad and Carey Hayes will return to write, but director James Wan’s involvement is less clear.

A spin-off is also on the way tentatively titled The Annabelle Story, featuring the creepy doll from the beginning of The Conjuring.
