When
As it turns out, it’s the first big screen meeting between the Caped Crusader and Man of Steel which will move, but that’s no bad thing for us as it means that we will now get to see the Zack Snyder helmed movie (which will also feature Wonder Woman) a little earlier on March 25th, 2016.
Neither Batman V Superman or Captain America 3 would have benefited from battling it out on the same opening weekend, especially as the latter will be riding high off the success of Avengers: Age of Ultron (each Marvel Studios movie gained a box office boost after Avengers Assemble hit).
However, that’s not all. Warner Bros. also announced the following release dates:
Aug. 5, 2016: Untitled DC Film
June 23, 2017: Untitled DC Film
Nov. 17, 2017: Untitled DC Film
March 23, 2018: Untitled DC Film
July 27, 2018: Untitled DC Film
April 5, 2019: Untitled DC Film
June 14, 2019: Untitled DC Film
April 3, 2020: Untitled DC Film
June 19, 2020: Untitled DC Film
There’s currently no word on what any of these will be, but likely candidates include Justice League, Sandman, Shazam (starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), and Wonder Woman.
There are of course countless possibilities for these nine vacant slots, including a new Batman movie and a possible Man of Steel sequel as well. You have to imagine that Warner Bros. already know what they’ll be releasing, and Marvel Studios finally have a very real rival in DC Comics.
Warner Bros. also announced untitled event films for November 16th, 2018 and 20th November, 2020. These could be DC related, but it seems far more likely that they could have something to do with the planned Harry Potter spin-off’s, one of which is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
