Supergirl and Teen Titans are among the TV shows currently in the works at Warner Bros. as they look to bring more of their DC Comics properties to the small screen. The latest which will potentially join the likes of Arrow, Constantine, Gotham, and The Flash is Krypton, a series based on Superman’s homeworld.

Gotham, which takes place years before the moment that Bruce Wayne dons the cape and cowl as Batman, has been a success so a Superman prequel of sorts probably shouldn’t come as too much of a shock!

However, rather than exploring Clark Kent’s teen years as Smallville did, the plan is apparently to go back even earlier than that and Man of Steel writer and producer David Goyer is said to be developing the series.

Based on the name – “Krypton” – you have to imagine that the series will take place on Superman’s home planet of Krypton, perhaps focusing on his family and other characters comic book fans will be familiar with such as Brainiac and General Zod. We visited Krypton in Man of Steel, but there’s no word on whether or not this TV show would be a prequel to the events of that movie or set in its own world like Gotham.

The fact that Superman’s home planet was destroyed when his parents sent him to Earth as a baby will obviously mean that the iconic DC Comics superhero won’t be able to appear unless it’s near the show’s end as a newborn. Regardless, it undoubtedly has a lot of potential to be something very special if done well.

Details are scarce right now, but we’ll be sure to bring you more details if and when they arrive!
