After the success of The Dark Knight Trilogy and movies like Inception and Interstellar, Christopher Nolan is among only a handful of filmmakers who have moviegoers constantly wondering what their next project is going to be. In fact, Nolan might just be the only director out there who can generate a huge amount of buzz from a release date alone!

That’s exactly what’s happening today as Warner Bros. has announced that his next film is set to be released on July 21st, 2017. Unfortunately, that’s all that has been revealed at this point; we currently know nothing about the plot, cast, or even what it’s going to be titled.

While many would no doubt love to see Nolan tackle another superhero project, that ultimately seems unlikely unless he’s going to tackle that rumoured solo outing for Superman (that seems doubtful when Justice League is also being released in 2017).

This is an interesting choice of release date for Nolan’s next movie as it will hit the big screen on the same day as Pitch Perfect 3 and Luc Besson’s Valerian, neither of which should pose any real threat to it. However, it’s set to be released a week after the next Planet of the Apes movie and a week before Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man reboot starring Tom Holland.
